Impacting The Lives of Those We Serve

We are honored to be here today, having cared for Georgians for the past 75 years, and to be given the privilege to continue to impact millions of lives. Our Annual Impact Reports reflect the incredible efforts it takes to provide quality care, while navigating the many challenges and changes that occur in our healthcare landscape.

Equal Access to Healthcare for All

In Georgia there is a growing underserved aging population and since 1948, Visiting Nurse has remained the safety-net to provide healthcare at home to the largest number of low-income patients in Georgia. Having a partnership with our community to help provide charitable care funds is our highest funding priority so we may provide access to care for all people. While we make nearly 9,000 charitable care visits each year, there is a rapidly growing need of funding to support the growth of this patient population.

Georgia’s Aging Population by the Numbers

There is a growing need for healthcare and aging services at home.

Georgia’s fastest growing population is 65 and older.

Our Care Continuum

Visiting Nurse brings care into the home through our doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, chaplains, and nursing assistants. Through our collaborative healthcare partnerships, patients receive what they need to have the best quality of life at home. We coordinate care for our patients to provide services they need, including meals, transportation, daily living support, urgent and primary care at home. Healthcare education also is an important part of our delivery of care as we ensure that our patients and their caregivers receive the information needed for optimal patient outcomes.

Bring hope to low-income patients by providing customized care packages including adult diapers, nutrition beverages, hygiene products, shelf-stable meals, cleaning products, socks, and blankets. Care packages may be delivered to us, and our clinical team will deliver to patient homes. Each care package should include card with a list of items and words of encouragement.

A planned gift is a meaningful way to extend your compassion beyond today and ensure that future generations continue to receive dignified, compassionate care at home. Through your legacy, you can help bring comfort, independence, and hope to patients and families when they need it most – today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Planned gifts are flexible and can be tailored to your personal and financial goals. Common options include gifts through a will or trust, retirement assets, life insurance, real estate, or other charitable planning tools.

Your legacy becomes part of a lasting tradition of care that supports patients, caregivers, and families across our community.

Ways to Leave Your Legacy of Care

You may choose from several types of planned gifts, including:
· Bequests in a will or living trust
· Retirement plan or IRA assets
· Life insurance policies
· Real estate or appreciated assets
· Charitable trusts or donor-advised funds

We encourage you to consult with your attorney or financial advisor to determine the option that best aligns with your goals and intentions.

Aging Better starts with a community that cares!
Our Visiting Nurse Health System and Hospice Atlanta Home Health and Hospice teams were proud to be part of the Aging Better Expo, hosted by our valued healthcare partner, Kaiser Permanente.
The event brought seniors and community partners together for a day focused on health, wellness, resources and connections that help older adults live and age well in their homes!
Great event connecting one-on-one with seniors, answering questions, sharing information about our full care continuum filled with services to help seniors age in place.

We’re grateful to Kaiser Permanente and all the organizations working together to care for Atlanta’s growing senior community. When we come together, we make our community stronger by bringing information, resources and connection to our seniors to thrive at home.

Grateful for strong community partnerships that help build strong nonprofit leadership.
For the past five years, OnBoard has been an important pipeline for recruiting talented, committed leaders to the Visiting Nurse Health System | Hospice Atlanta Board of Directors. Their work has helped us connect with individuals who bring fresh perspectives, valuable expertise, and a genuine commitment to our mission.
We’ve seen that impact firsthand. Mel Coker, now in her first term as Board Chair, came to our board through OnBoard and stepped into the chair role following Nicole Hart’s successful completion of her term. And now, we are excited to welcome Amy Katnik as the newest leader joining our board through the OnBoard pipeline.
Strong organizations need strong governance, and strong governance starts with finding the right people who are willing to serve.
Thank you, OnBoard, for five years of partnership and for helping Visiting Nurse Health System continue to strengthen the leadership around our board table. We are grateful for the partnership and excited about the leaders still to come.

Today, we celebrate the people who came before us. ❤️
The ones who raised families.
Built communities.
Worked hard.
Loved deeply.
Weathered challenges.
And left a little wisdom behind for the generations that followed.
On Senior Citizens Day, we honor the older adults who have shaped our families and our communities, and remind ourselves that growing older should always come with dignity, respect, connection and care.
Here’s to the stories, memories, lessons and legacies that make every generation matter.

Happy Senior Citizens Day!
