Celebrating 75 Years of Access to Healthcare For All!

“Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.”

Impacting The Lives of Those We Serve

We are honored to be here today, having cared for Georgians for the past 75 years, and to be given the privilege to continue to impact millions of lives. Our Annual Impact Reports reflect the incredible efforts it takes to provide quality care, while navigating the many challenges and changes that occur in our healthcare landscape.

Equal Access to Healthcare for All

In Georgia there is a growing underserved aging population and since 1948, Visiting Nurse has remained the safety-net to provide healthcare at home to the largest number of low-income patients in Georgia. Having a partnership with our community to help provide charitable care funds is our highest funding priority so we may provide access to care for all people. While we make nearly 9,000 charitable care visits each year, there is a rapidly growing need of funding to support the growth of this patient population.

Georgia’s Aging Population by the Numbers

There is a growing need for healthcare and aging services at home.

Georgia’s fastest growing population is 65 and older.

Our Care Continuum

Visiting Nurse brings care into the home through our doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, chaplains, and nursing assistants. Through our collaborative healthcare partnerships, patients receive what they need to have the best quality of life at home. We coordinate care for our patients to provide services they need, including meals, transportation, daily living support, urgent and primary care at home. Healthcare education also is an important part of our delivery of care as we ensure that our patients and their caregivers receive the information needed for optimal patient outcomes.

We've had a great day honoring our Veteran hospice patients for their courage, service, and connection. Our Veteran Volunteer retired Navy Captain Alan, traveled around to our patients’ homes today, honoring their service with a We Honor Veterans pinning event. A few of our patients honored today are shown here: Duane, an Air Force pilot, and later a commercial pilot, with a flawless 30-year flying record, and Edward “Ted,” a Navy veteran and centenarian honored at age 102.
Alan, our Volunteer and a retired Navy Captain who served aboard the USS Long Beach during the Vietnam War, has spent over 15 years giving back to fellow veterans through visits and veteran pinning ceremonies. Through these events, Alan brings honor, understanding, recognition, and the unique bond that only a fellow service member can share.

Our Visiting Nurse Community Care Program leaders were proud to participate in today’s Newton County Senior Center community event, sharing how our full continuum of healthcare, aging services and provider networks offer the necessary care and resources needed. Every conversation and resource provided ensures those who need care know about the resources available, and understand the steps to access the healthcare and services they need.

Visiting Nurse loves celebrating Our Amazing Home Health PTs and PTAs!

October is Physical Therapy Month, and our Home Health leader Jacqueline Ralph Blair brought the team together for a fun evening of bowling to celebrate the incredible work they bring into homes every day. This celebration was a small way to say thank you for the big impact they make in people’s lives.

In these times, connection and appreciation mean more than ever — and it was wonderful to spend time together as a team. 💙
