Hospice Atlanta’s Bereavement department focuses on providing comfort, support and resources for those that have lost a loved one.  We understand that grief is a very normal yet difficult process and everyone experiences it differently. Hospice Atlanta offers a wide range of support options for your personal journey.

Our Bereavement Coordinators are available by phone for grief support and counseling Monday through Friday. In addition, Hospice Atlanta offers virtual support groups, free of charge, to our bereaved community.

Community Bereavement Support 2024 CALENDAR

Hospice Atlanta Bereavement Services department is pleased to offer a variety of workshops and support groups as free grief-support resources for the community. Participation is open to all adults working through the death of a loved one, regardless of whether their loved one was a Hospice Atlanta patient.

IN-PERSON EVENT

Hospice Atlanta Bereavement Services department is pleased to offer the 2nd annual Resilience Bereavement Workshop on Saturday, March 16th from 1pm-5pm at St. Philip’s Cathedral. This event includes special guest speakers sharing their powerful personal stories of resilience through grief, as well as a 2-hour loss-specific, professionally facilitated small group breakout session.

This event is free of charge and open community-wide to anyone working through the death of a loved one.

VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS

Our virtual workshops are offered as private, closed, small groups using the HIPAA-compliant platform: Zoom for Healthcare.

 

OPERATION: GRIEF (7-Week Intensive Workshop)
Tuesdays, 7pm – 8:30pm
This 7-week, professionally facilitated, intensive workshop encourages participants to confront and process the deeper issues of their grief in a closed, small group setting. Weekly homework is assigned. Registration is required. Space is limited.

FROM ‘WE’ TO ‘ME’ (6-Week, Spousal Loss Workshop)
Wednesdays, 7pm – 8:30pm
This professionally facilitated, closed, small group meets consecutive Wednesdays for 6 weeks to explore the unique aspects of spousal loss, and how to cope with the various challenges of the “un-coupling.” Using a prompted discussion forum format, participants are guided through transparent conversations about their spouse’s end of life process, learning to live without their spouse, adjusting to singleness and what it means to “move forward.” Participants must be committed to attending all 6 sessions.

Space is limited. Registration is required.

UNPARENTED (5-Week, Parent Loss Workshop)
Tuesdays, 7pm – 8:30pm (May & September Sessions)         Wednesdays, 7pm – 8:30pm (March & July Sessions)
This professionally facilitated group meets weekly for 6 weeks to explore the unique aspects of parent loss, and what it means to become “unparented.” Using a prompted discussion forum format, participants are guided through transparent conversations about experiencing their parent’s end of life and learning to live without them. Participants must be committed to attending all 6 sessions. Space is limited. Registration is required.

• Wednesdays:  July 24 – Aug 28, 2024

IN-PERSON SUPPORT GROUPS

LANDSCAPES OF GRIEF  (5-Week In-Person Support Group)
Sundays, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
This in-person, grief support group is open to all adults in the community who are working through the death of a loved one. Sessions occur across 5 consecutive weeks. Space is limited. Registration is required. Contact Paulette Slawson for upcoming dates.

ANNUAL BEREAVEMENT CAMP

2024 CAMP STARS 
Friday, November 8th – Sunday, November 10th
This incredible weekend at beautiful Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA, offers those working through the death of a loved one the opportunity to work through their loss individually, as a family, and in connection with others who share similar losses. The weekend includes 2 professionally-facilitated groups sessions for all adults and children 3+. Childcare is provided for children under 3. Cost: Participants are only responsible for a registration fee of $40 per family. All other costs, including lodging, meals and activities are covered.
